A gantry crane which is sometimes called the giant crane or the portal crane refers to a kind of lifting equipment that is purposely designed to load and unload materials in various industrial environments/sites such as the factory, power plant, warehouses and even in workstations. This crane resembles an overhead crane. An overhead crane is used for lifting and transporting material in a factory, warehouse, or a workshop. DOUBLE GIRDER GANTRY CRANE

This can be classified into two broad categories:
-According to the form of use, that would include the hook type and the project type
-According to the structure of the main beam, that includes the box type and the truss type
